Chez Karen's Recipes

This Is What She Used To Look Like
We started working on this house in the summer of 1990. We did all the work ourselves except for a few things. It took us 3 1/2 years to do the work.
The house was built circa 1860's. The entire outside was restored to its original look. Pine siding (now painted), and chestnut boards on the roof. (The Amish laid new shingles, but you should have heard them bargain for the wood on that roof!, but we stuck to our guns and kept it.)

We hope you will choose to dine with us. Jim greets, seats,.....
and serves dressed in his tuxedo while providing the kind of personal and attentive service found in high-end restaurants as Jazz music fills the air and fine art covers the walls. I (Karen) handle the kitchen. You can see me at work because only a counter separates the two rooms.

In business since 1995 and having NEVER advertised, relying instead on word-of-mouth recommendations and our ever growing mailing list, people come from all over the region and we are usually booked well in advance on the weekends and every night throughout the summer.

Even so, the atmosphere is informal, and the dress code casual--although if you want to put on your prom clothes and compete with Jim, you won't feel out of place. The menu selection is interesting, and the inspiration is Mediterranean with Greek influence at the forefront.

If you are looking for delicious, freshly prepared food, lively conversation, and the chance to make a frew new friends, this restaurant is worth the drive.

Special Gatherings
The room is very small but we can accomodate 16 people at our four tables. We like to take small groups of 6, 8, 10 or 12 people at one time. Larger groups are required to preorder from a select menu. Deposits, and room fees are sometimes required also. Occasionally, on some holidays, we will seat European Style meaning that if we are only getting reservations for groups of two, you would be seated with someone else enabling us to continue to fill the house.
